Piotr Powietrzynski is an award-winning stock and commercial photographer.
His passion for photography was born in the darkroom during his college years. The magic of developing photographs out of nothing never ceased to amaze him and has changed his life forever. After receiving a Master of Science in Computer Science diploma he faced a choice: to stay at the university to pursue academic career, or to became a full-time photographer.
In 1990 he moved from Poland to the capital of photography, New York City, and his dilemma was solved.
In his recent works, Piotr tries to combine his first-hand knowledge of traditional photographic techniques with his expertise in Photoshop. "Photoshop gives me the freedom, but what really gives my photographs life and meaning is a light"
What further sets Piotr apart from other photographers, besides his perfectionist's attitude, is his poetic sensitivity and at the same time, kind of tranquility reminding one of the Far-East philosophers.
